Heavy Duty Mechanics

    Shop Mechanic – On Road Equipment: must have experience with on road equipment and highway trucks and trailers.
    Field Mechanic – Off Road Equipment: must have experience with off road equipment.

    (Contract mechanics are accepted.)

    Responsibilities of Field Mechanic (Off Road):

    • Diagnose and repair heavy equipment (dozers, scrapers, excavators, rock trucks, skid steers, graders, etc.)
    • Working with the Equipment Supervisor & Mechanical Foreman on various tasks
    • Maintain detailed records and organization plans.
    • Ensure repairs are carried out according to manufacturer’s procedures and in safe and responsible manner within the designated timeframe.
    • Various related duties as required.
    • Continually assess service task hazards and ensure work is performed safely and to accepted standards.

    Responsibilities of Shop Mechanic (On Road):

    • Diagnose and repair heavy haul trucks, trailer, and heavy equipment.
    • Working with the Equipment Manager & Mechanical Foreman on various tasks
    • Maintain detailed records and organization plans.
    • Ensure repairs are carried out according to manufacturer’s procedures and in safe and responsible manner within the designated timeframe.
    • Various related duties as required.
    • Help work on pickup trucks and heavy equipment as necessary.
    • Continually assess service task hazards and ensure work is performed safely and to accepted standards.

    Qualifications:

    • Must have 3-5 years of experience with Heavy Equipment, water trucks, fuel and lube trucks and pickup trucks.
    • Red Seal Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic ticket is an asset, but not required.
    • Experience fixing scrapers is an asset.
    • Experienced with highway and off highway an asset.
    • Experience with Air Conditioning, Welding, Transmission/Engine Repair/Re-Builds, Airbrakes
    • Experience with Cat and Komatsu Equipment
    • High degree of product and technical knowledge with strong diagnostics capabilities
    • Good communication skills both written and verbal.
    • CVIP experience is an asset.
    • Must have demonstrated ability to work under minimal supervision.
    • Dedication to safety
    • You must have your own tools.

    Work Conditions

    Safety equipment will be required, e.g., steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses, etc. Overtime as required. Hazards associated with the trade. Work both indoors and outdoors. May be exposed to high levels of noise.
